Based on a real vehicle, the 1:10 scale model is powered by a Meccano PDU motor and has a clutch, suspension, gear lever, 2-speed and reverse gearbox, correctly-geared steering, a self-levelling, slewing man-basket hoist operated by cable-and-pulley simulated hydraulics, and power-operated stabilisers. 

The van body conveniently slides off the chassis to provide access to the mechanisms
