Lartigue's Steam Monorail

Designed, described and illustrated by Peter Matthews

C. F. M. T. Lartigue was born in France and is credited with the invention of the Steam Monorail. In 1886 he built a demonstration model in London on part of the site now occupied by Westminster Cathedral. Subsequently the Listowel & Ballybunion Railway in Ireland was built on the same principle in 1888.

The bulk of the instructions for Peter's model consist of a wealth of excellent IsoMec drawings covering no fewer than fifteen pages of the twenty-four page booklet, which also includes a detailed parts list.
