Meccano Challenge 2008
This year's Meccano Challenge involves climbing stairs.
There is a small set of steps - three or four - at the back of the Greenford Hall and you are encouraged to make a machine to climb them. The precise dimensions will be published shortly, but the best machine will be able to cope with small variations. For the purposes of the competition, "climbing stairs" means the machine must take each step in turn.
You can use any Meccano motor to power the machine but the power supply must be carried with it. Remote control is not allowed; the machine must climb automatically. All parts used must be official Meccano parts or replica parts with the same essential physical characteristics as the originals.
The winning machine will be the one that climbs the furthest, or, in the event of a tie, gets to the top of the stairs in the shortest time. As usual the contest will be held at the November meeting (Greenford, 15/11/2008) and the Founder's Trophy will be awarded to the winner, who will also receive a bottle of fine Australian wine.
