Shirley

Model Index

Built: 1993 A model of Shirley built to commemorate our 10th anniversary together.

Long and skinny, like its prototype ◄ the model has a tilting head and expanding red apple-cheeks.

The head was moved by a  cord running through the body to a crank and motor in the base.

The skirt and back "hair" were added after its debut at Oxton, after Mike Cotterill remarked "I like your man; especially his moving ears!"  There was obviously a need to feminise the model!

As the cheeky little figure came to life, I became increasingly besotted with it, and felt like a cross between Zeppetto and Pygmalion.  Meccano fulfils all of a man's needs!

Builder's comment:  Taken down after the prototype complained that "the joke was over".
